How to make a whisky sour with Spiegelau

The Perfect Serve Cocktail: Whisky Sour

A balancing act due to its simple ingredients, the Whisky Sour will have you hanging out for cocktail hour. Mixologists continue to argue over whether it should contain egg whites or not, but we're presenting it to you in its purest form - with no added risk of salmonella.

The Whisky Sour

History

Said to have been invented to keep sailors hydrated (but not drunk) during month-long journeys across the seas, incarnations of the Whisky Sour have been around for over five centuries. As far back as the 1700s, this cocktail is believed to be based on an individual portion of the basic punch recipe: "One sour, two sweet, three strong, four weak."

It was also said to have helped with the prevention of scurvy on long sea trips, thanks to the inclusion of lemon. Feel free to use that fact next time you're in trouble for having too many cocktails at the bar (they'll obviously need to be citrus-based for your argument to work).
