How to make an Americano with Spiegelau
Not to be confused with the Starbucks version, the Americano is colourful, simple to make, and deliciously bitter. Now usurped in popularity by its hardier cousin the Negroni, the Americano packs a flavour punch without knocking you out.
Just ask Bond, who has been known to order it from time to time - specifically with Perrier water of course.
History:
The Americano originated in Gaspare Campari's bar, Caffè Campari, in the 1860s. It was first called "Milano-Torino" after the origins of its ingredient: Campari from Milan, and Vermouth from Turin. The story goes that the drink became popular with American tourists in the early 1990s. The cocktail's new name is also said to be influenced by the Italian word "amaro", meaning bitter.
